The Archive

The David Branson Papers archive was established at the ACT Heritage Library in December 2010 by Gavin Findlay and Joel Swadling. The archive includes a great deal of Splinters material including company records, production files and scripts, photo albums, posters and some 120 video tapes which have been transferred to digital storage. This website would not have been possible without the vision, expertise and patience of the Head Librarian, Antoinette Buchanan. An index to the collection is here.

David, co-founder of Splinters and the most vibrant and inspiring theatre artist of our generation, died tragically in a car accident in December 2001. We miss him more every day (obituary by myself and Hal Judge in RealTime 47). Most of the material to date has been donated by David’s mother Margaret Hunt and his partner Louise Morris, with more recent material from Patrick Troy and curatorial advice from José Robertson.

The archive is listed in the National Library of Australia’s Trove database and this website is archived as part of the National Library’s Pandora program.

The project was assisted through funding made available by the ACT Government under the ACT Heritage Grants Program.
